NEW LONDON, Conn. –
After finishing 3rd at the NEWA Duals last week, #14 Coast Guard defeated #22 Stevens Tech at home this week 27-15.
With the loss, Stevens Tech falls to 6-6 on the 24-25 campaign. They will host The College of New Jersey Friday February 17th at 7:00 PM.
In their closest meet thus far this year, the 14th ranked nationally Coast Guard Bears defeated Stevens with the toughness and grit always associated with Bears wrestlers and their "SPARLIFE" motto.
Six Bears today came out victorious in their matches to lead them to victory. Junior
Nikko Beato(San Diego, CA) won by forfeit at 125.
Chase Randall(Spokane, WA) and Dominic Moyer(Milford, PA) each won by technical fall 16-1 at their respective weights: 133 and 141.
At 141,
Nathan Fitt(Branchville, NJ) won a close battle 4-2 by decision. In the closest bout of the afternoon, 174
Caden Stout(St. Clairsville, OH) won his match 5-4 by decision.
Finally, at 285,
Carl DiGiorgio continued his season-long domination, winning 21-5 by technical fall.
The Bears will host their final home meet of the season next Saturday at 11:00 AM with a tri-meet vs #17 NYU and Hunter. Prior to the tri-meet, the Bears will honor their five seniors:
