NEW LONDON, Conn. - The New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) has released their yearly awards, with junior heavyweight
Carl DiGiorgio (Doylestown, Pa.) leading the Coast Guard Academy wrestling team as the 2024-25 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
DiGiorgio went 25-3 during his third-year campaign en route to a runner-up placement at the 2025 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships. His efforts also garnered him All-NEWA First Team recognition alongside senior teammate
Chase Randall (Spokane, Wash.), who posted a perfect 26-0 record with six pins during his successful quest to repeat as national champion at 133 pounds.
Joining them on the All-NEWA lists are junior
Jacob Woodburn (Greensboro, N.C.) and sophomore
Gabriel Monroe (Kirkwood, N.Y.). The duo made their debuts on the national stage this past season and bowed out in the consolation bracket. Woodburn went 21-8 at 157, while Monroe was 17-9 at 184.
Coast Guard had six more wrestlers appointed as All-NEWA Honorable Mentions: senior
Kenny Marra (Salem, Ohio), juniors
Nathan Fitt (Branchville, N.J.) and
Nikko Beato (San Diego, Calif.), sophomores
Landon Kearns (East Brunswick, N.J.) and
Caden Stout (St. Clairesville, Ohio), and freshman
Dom Moyer (Milford, Pa.). Moyer was also named to the All-Rookie Team next to
Brendan Raley (Annandale, Va.).
Bears wrestling also put 19 on the NEWA All-Academic Team:
