BOSTON, Mass. --
The Coast Guard Bears competed at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic where several athletes posted top performances of the season and established two new school records.
The first school record to be broken today was the women's 4x400 relay placing 17th overall as the 4th fastest Div. 3 team in the field.
Ella Besant(Morehead, KY),
Grace Flynn(Severna Park, MD),
Sophia White(Gurley, AL), and
Makenna Topp(Anthem, AZ) set a new record of 3:55.70. The previous record was set 2018 when Anna Beck, Adora Lawrence, Caroline Jenkins, and Ashlee Johnson ran 3:57.36.
Another outstanding performer and new school record holder came from senior
Paige Phillips(Wilmington, NC) in the Mile. Phillips far exceeded her previous best performance by running a 4:57.09 to set the new standard for Coast Guard. The previous record was 4:57.22 held by Maeve Roach in 2021.
Another top performance in the mile came from
Claire Semerod(Centennial, CO) after running 5:01.06 for a new personal record and a CG #5 All-Time performance.
In the 200 meter dash
Alaina Stonebraker(Salt Lake City, UT) posted a 25.90 while teammate
Grace Flynn ran another indoor best time of 26.10 (a NED3 Championships qualification). Ella Bessant was 14th in the Open 400 meter dash running a collegiate best time of 59.12. Teammate
Grace Flynn also ran a personal record time of 59.40 in the 400 meters

Makenna Topp was Coast Guard's top finisher in the 800 meters running an indoor best performance of 2:17.36. Topp's time moves into the #4 spot on the Indoor All Time List. Senior
Sophia White improved on her indoor collegiate best time after running 2:18.66 landing at the #9 spot on the 800 meter CG All-Time List. Sophomore
Kate Stebbins ran a New England Div. 3 Championship qualifying time of 3:09.12 in the 1000 meters.
In the field events,
Mollie Brinker(Wilmington, NC) was Coast Guard's top finisher jumping 3.35m (10' 11.75") hitting the qualifying standard for New England Div. 3 Championships.
Maureen Hammond(Downington, PA) was 16th in the shot put throwing 11.19m (36' 8.5"). Madelyn Green(Chesapeake Bay, MD)Â was 19th in the triple jump with a best mark of 10.38m (34' .75").
