Wildsmith to be No. 1 Seed in High Jump at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  —

Junior high jumper Allie Wildsmith (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) was revealed last night to be the top seed in the high jump at this year's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, with the announcement coming via official press release from the NCAA.

The junior has now qualified for outdoor Nationals in all three of her years competing at the collegiate level, placing tenth as a freshman in 2023 and 13th as a sophomore last year. Wildsmith also qualified for the last two indoor Nationals, earning All-America honors in 2024 by placing 7th and winning the championship at this season's meet. The indoor title made her the first Coast Guard track & field National Champion since Michelle Kwafo (Class of 2023), who won the 100 meters at the 2023 outdoor championships.

The NCAA Division III Track & Field Committee accepts the top 22 declared entries for each event, and Wildsmith will enter this season's championship as the #1 seed looking to put an exclamation point on one of the most impressive D-III high jumping seasons in recent history. She secured her position this past April with her 1.78-meter (5' 10") clearance at UMass Lowell's George Davis Invitational — a mark she matched last weekend by winning the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by UMass Amherst.

The mark was an outdoor career best, school record, and the fifth-best outdoor jump in D-III history. Wildsmith made waves earlier in the year during the indoor season when she put on a show for the home crowd at the CGA Winter Invitational and won the high jump with a personal record 1.80-meter (5' 10.75") jump — the height being a school and facility record as well as the third-best mark in indoor D-III history. The USTFCCCA selected her as Mideast Women's Field Athlete of the Year after her win at Nationals.

Wildsmith's biggest rival is stacking up to be Illinois Tech junior Olivia Jameson, who secured the #2 seed with a 1.73-meter (5'8") clearance back in April at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships. After Jameson, three competitors are tied for the #3 seed at 1.72 meters (5' 7.75") — Bridgewater State senior Serenity Sands; sophomore Serena McNeilly from Centre College; and Wash U senior Ebunoluwa Opata.

The 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, starting on Thursday, May 22, and running through Saturday the 24th; Wildsmith will be competing on Friday the 23rd.
