NEW LONDON, Conn. — 

Samuel Linkous (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) of the men's soccer team and Sam Ventimiglia (Key West, Fla.) of the volleyball team have been named the first CoastGuardAthletics.com Athletes of the Week, presented by First Command, of the 2025-26 academic year!

Linkous made a spot start in goal this past Friday against Brandeis University and played the full 90 minutes of a game for the first time in his collegiate career. He saved four shots and allowed one goal on a late-game penalty kick while facing 13 shots. Ventimiglia totaled 27.0 points on 19 kills, five aces, and three blocks (one solo, four assist) over the weekend at Christopher Newport University's Captains Classic tournament. For her efforts, she was named to the weekend's All-Tournament team.

The CoastGuardAthletics.com Athletes of the Week awards, presented by First Command, are intended for Coast Gaurd Academy cadet-athletes whose performances during the past week of action may have gone overlooked by their conferences or region-based organizations and committees.
