NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. —
The Coast Guard Academy women's lacrosse team earned recognition from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) this past Wednesday as an Academic Honor Squad.
376 schools in total across all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA, qualified for the honor by posting a team GPA of 3.20 or higher during the academic year. Coast Guard was one of 179 institutions representing Division III on the list while being joined by all ten of their peers from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
The Bears also saw three players selected to the IWLCA's Division III Academic Honor Roll, with recent graduate
Riley Mullen (Williamsburg, Va.) and rising seniors
Gabriella Kraus-Rivera (West Linn, Oreg.) and
Abby McAllister (Pleasantville, N.Y.) making the list. The trio were part of a total 1,289 student-athletes from 203 different schools. To qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must be in at least her junior year at her respective institution while working towards a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
