SOMERVILLE, Mass. --
Six Coast Guard women's athletes travel to Tufts University to compete in their NCAA final qualifier. The first event of the day was the women's distance medley relay showcasing some of the top talent in D3 chasing a qualifying mark for next week's national championships. The DMR team of
Paige Phillips(Wilmington, NC),
Grace Flynn(Severna Park, MD),
Sophia White(Gurley, AL), and
Claire Semerod(Centennial, CA) finished fourth in the field and crossed the finish in a season best time of 11:50.89. Their time currently ranks as the 10th fastest relay among D3 teams.
Also running well, was Junior
Alaina Stonebraker(Sandy, UT) posting personal records in the 60 m dash and the 400 m dash. Stonebraker ran a 7.91 in the 60 m and 58.11 in the 400 meters. Her 60 m time is an improvement from her previous best of 7.95 and ranked number two Coast Guard all time while her 400 meter performance moves her up to second all-time in Coast Guard history.
In the shot put,
Maureen Hammond(Downington, PA) placed third throwing 11.74 m (38' 6.25").
