Tara Jessen(Signal Mountain, TN) competed in the pentathlon at the Springfield College Massasoit Invite where she placed second overall and improved upon her all-time best in the event.
Jessen scored 2890 points Finishing in second place behind a Division 2 athlete from Roberts Wesleyan University. Her performance from today moves her into the number two spot on Coast Guard All-Time Performance list in the pentathlon.
The day started off with a personal record performance in the 60 hurdles where she ran 10.04, which was followed up with a collegiate best mark in the high jump where she cleared 1.44m (4' 8.75").
In her third event, the shot put, she threw 8.33m (27' 4"). The next event, the long jump, she leapt 4.71m (15' 5.5"). To close out the competition, Jessen took second in the 800m running 2:27.33.
The rest of the Coast Guard Track and Field team will compete at the Triangle Classic tomorrow February 22nd.
