BOSTON, Mass. - The Coast Guard Bears had a small contingent travel to Boston University for the Sharon-Colyear Danville Invite. The top performer of the day was senior Maureen Hammond (Downingtown, Pa.) in the shot out. Hammond broke the school record after throwing 12.90m (42' 4") on her first mark of the competition to place 2nd overall.
Other top performers were junior Claire Semerod (Centennial, Colo.) and senior Paige Phillips (Wilmington, N.C.) in the 5000m run. Semerod posted a personal best time of 17:08.37 moving into CGA's All-Time list at #3. Phillips posted a post-season qualifying performance through All-New Englands with a time of 17:21.98.
Sophomore Makenna Topp (Anthem, Ariz.) was 15th in the 800m running an indoor personal best of 2:17.24 moving up to CGA's #4 spot on the All-Time list. Junior Alaina Stonebraker (Salt Lake City, Utah) placed eighth in the 200m running 25.74. Sophomore Ella Besant (Morehead, Ky.) was 20th in the 300m running 42.69.
Senior Madelyn Greene (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) posted a 10.31m (33' 10") mark in the triple jump to place 6th. In the long jump, Kaylee Wright (Plainwell, Mich.) placed 4th after jumping 4.86m (15' 11.5"). Senior Jacey Tippman (Venice, Fla.) was 8th in the weight throw with a personal record mark of 13.38m (43' 10.75").
The Bears will return to action at home for the CGA Winter Invite #1 on January 18th.
