SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Junior All-American Adam Scalesse ran a personal best time of 8.16 to win the 60 meter hurdles as Coast Guard placed fifth of 11 teams at the Springfield College Invitational.
Scalesse's time of 8.16 broke his own school record of 8.25 set from last year and ranks him as the third best hurdler in Division III.
Sophomore James Dawkins had a great day in the sprints finishing 4th in the 200 meters running 23.63 and 7.38 in the 60 meter dash. Also for the Bears, Ben Hannon and Fred Higgins were 3rd and 6th respectively in the 400 meters crossing the finish in 51.80 and 52.92.
In the 600 meter run, Jordan Lee was 3rd overall finishing in 1:24.81 while Joe Kelly secured a 4th place finish running 1:25.05. Both Lee and Kelly hit the standard for Division III New England Championships.
Ben Wolhaupter cleared the bar at 14' 7.5 in the pole vault to take second place.
In the distance events, James Martin had a 7th place finish in the 1000 meters (2:41.39). Nick Foster and Jon Lash had breakthrough performances in the 5,000 meters running 16:04.41 and 16:08.36.
Coast Guard's 4x400 meter team of Hannon, Noe Kelly, Frederick Higgins, and Scalesse took first place with their best time of the season of 3:28.60.
Closing out the meet, Jordan Lee, Brad Pienta, Erick Jackson, and Ryan Hub were 3rd in the 4x800 running 8:25.19.
St. Lawrence won the meet with 125 points followed by Amherst 76, RPI 72, Westfield State 64, Coast Guard 56, WPI 51, Springfield 39, AIC 33, Eastern Connecticut State 24, Keene State 10 and Trinity 3.
