Bears Fall at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, CONN.--(4/18/12)--Wesleyan took its 17th straight decision over Coast Guard with a 15-7 victory.

The Cardinals unleashed a 21-hit attack and took the lead for good in the 2nd inning by rallying for seven runs, all with two outs, by banging out six hits, all good for RBI.

The Bears narrowed the margin to 10-5 in the 5th inning before a five-run 7th for the Cardinals extended the gap to 15-5.

Wesleyan got a 5-for-6 effort at the plate from freshman Donnie Cimino as he knocked in four runs. Senior Kyle Weiss went 4-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI. All nine Cardinals who came to the plate during the game registered at least one hit.

Freshman Andrew Yin, who entered the game defensively in the top of the 2nd, made a solid contribution with a 3-for-5 effort while knocking in a pair and scoring twice.

Three Bears had a multiple-hit game, led by senior Mike Salerno, who went 3-for-6. Junior Tyler Babkiewich had two hits and two RBI.

Freshman Dan Sabourin, making his first career start, picked up two hits while scoring two times and knocking in another. In total, Coast Guard rapped out 12 hits but left 17 on base.
