This past weekend, the Coast Guard sailing team delivered multiple strong performances across four events, including impressive results from two home regattas.
New London, Conn. - Thompson Trophy
Coast Guard hosted the Thompson Trophy on the Thames River and placed fifth. Conditions ranged from a brisk 12–25 knots on Saturday to 6–25 knots on Sunday with strong currents throughout. Competing for Coast Guard were seniors Coleman Schofield (Yorktown, Va.), Nicholas Reeser (Wilton Manors, Fla.), Jack Derry (East Lyme, Conn.), and Dan Neville (Plantation, Fla.); and juniors Bradley Whiteway (Potomac, Md,), Charlie Pohl (Euclid, Ohio), and Sarah Krajewski (Lewes, Del.).

The Bears offshore squad closed out the spring J70 series with second and fifth place finishes at home. Racing took place in heavy breezes and strong currents, with 12 races completed. Sailing for the Bears were seniors Gabe Niles (Bennington, Vt.) and Alexander Rogers (Williamsburg, Va.); juniors Connor Boudreau (West Suffield, Conn.), Cathryn Hegner (San Antonio, Tex.), Hudson Holden (Harpswell, Maine), and Eve Lanzafame (Hadley, Mass.); sophomore Ned Jobson (Madison, Conn.); and freshman Elizabeth Hetzler (Carlton, Oreg.).

Providence, R.I. - NEISA Women's Team Race Championship
The women's team finished ninth overall in the regatta hosted by Brown University, highlighted by a key win over Bowdoin. Winds ranged from 18–30 knots across nine races, while the Coast Guard was represented by senior Charlotte McCarthy (Hamden, Conn.); juniors Julia Conneely (Tampa, Fla.) and Allison Nystrom (Centerville, Mass.); sophomore Caroline Odell (Burke, Va.); and freshmen Ella Demand (Toms River, N.J.), Meara Conley (Hingham, Mass.), and Olivia Spada (Huntington, N.Y.).

Boston, Mass. - Oberg Trophy
At a join t regatta hosted by MIT and Northeastern University, Coast Guard secured fourth place. Saturday's racing was canceled due to weather, but six races were completed on Sunday in a light northerly breeze. Competing for the Bears were junior Luke Zylinski (Lavallette, N.J.); sophomores Grace Austin (Morrpark, Calif.), Julian Henderson (Camden, Maine) and Gavin VanManen (Rockford, Mich.); and freshmen Joey Richardson (San Diego, Calif.) and Benjamin Reeser (Wilton Manors, Fla.).

Next weekend's action will see Bears swiling compete in the NEISA Open and Women's Fleet Race Championships, respectively hosted by Brown and Yalle University, and the Morris Trophy, hosted by Boston University.
