HARTFORD, Conn. —
The United States Coast Guard Academy men's track & field team traveled to Trinity College on Saturday, April 18th, to take part in the Trinity Invitational. A great day of competition resulted in the Bears taking a team finish of 7th in a 13-team field.
Glenn Patrick (Fairhope, Ala.) was fourth in the 100 meters running 11.14 in the finals after running an 11.06 in the preliminary round. Patrick also placed seventh in the 200 meters running 22.07. Sam Blake (Severna Park, Md.) ran to a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters, setting a new collegiate best time of 49.77 seconds for a new USCGA #9 all-time performance. Andrew Link (Winchester, Va.) set a personal best time in the 400 hurdles, running 58.77 to place ninth.
Miles Taylor (Austin, Tex.) was runner-up in the 800 meters, setting a collegiate best time of 1:53.66 and launching himself on to USCGA's all-time list at #7. Also performing well in the distance events was freshman Aaron Letner (Rapid City, S.D.), placing eighth in the 5000 meters run at 16:18.62. Also running over the weekend was Brendan Fant (East Lyme, Conn.), who participated in the 1500 meters at MIT's Sean Collier Distance Night on Friday, April 17th. Fant ran 3:56.10, a new USCGA #4 and just milliseconds off the the Academy's all-time #3 performance.
Scott Bayliss (Hudson, Ohio) was the winner of the men's high jump clearing a bar at 1.87 meters (6' 1.5"). Hayden Bergman (Magnolia, Del.) was third overall in the pole vault, soaring over a bar at 4.45 meters (14' 7.25"). Apia To'oto'o (Towson, Md.) was eighth clearing 4.00 meters (13' 1.5"). Tytan Moore (St. Petersburg, Fla.) was third in triple jump at 13.34 meters (43' 9.25"). In throwing, Vincent Grillo (Wlmington, Del.) was the top competitor for the Bears placing fourth in the shot put at 13.63 meters (44' 8.75"). Christian Schlauch (Annapolis, Md.) was tenth in the discus with a top mark of 40.48 meters (132' 9").
Bears men's track & field will return to the complex this upcoming weekend, staying at home for the 2026 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships.
