MEDFORD, Mass. —
A select group of United States Coast Guard Academy cadet-athletes took a trip to Tufts University on Saturday to make last-day pushes towards a 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships appearance. The Jumbo's final qualifier meet was held on the eve of the official selections announcement for this year's NCAA Championships, which are set to be announced on Sunday, March 7th, at 7 PM ET.
Having the most active day of the bunch was
Tytan Moore (St. Petersburg, Fla.). The sophomore posted a preliminary 60-meter dash time of 7.15 seconds, just 0.01 shy of his personal best, to move on to the finals, where he placed sixth at 7.17 seconds. Moore also leapt and bounded to a pair of eighth place performances in his specialty long jump and triple jump, posting respective marks of 6.50 meters (21' 4") and 13.40 meters (43' 11.75").
Picking up a win on the day was pole vaulter
Josh Banks (Henderson, Nev.), who entered the day sitting 18th in the nation in his event. The senior came up just short of his season-best mark of 4.90 meters (16' 0.75"), securing first place with a 4.83-meter clearance (15' 10").
For individual races on the women's side, the Bears were represented by
Claire Semerod's (Centennial, Colo.) fourth-place mile time of 4:54.70. In relays, Coast Guard sent out
Ella Besant (Morehead, Ky.),
Millie Wymbs (Salisbury, N.C.),
Tara Jessen (Signal Mountain, Tenn.), and
Alaina Stonebraker (Salt Lake City, Utah) for the 4 x 400-meter relay, and the crew worked together to place fourth at 3:55.38.
