BOSTON, Mass. —
U.S. Coast Guard Academy men's track & field junior
Ian Naff (Arlington, Va.) has broken his own Academy record in the indoor 400 Meters on Friday's first day of Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Naff competed in the meets 400m Invite field, reserved for the weekend's fastest runners, and crossed the finish line in 47.85 seconds. The time breaks Naff's previous record of 48.31 seconds set at last year's John Thomas Terrier Classic at BU. Naff also ran in the 200m Invite, placing 25th at 22.06 seconds.
Sam Blake (Severna Park, Md.), who continued an impressive freshman season with new bests of 23.15 seconds in the 200 Meters and 50.06 in the 400 Meters.
Garrett Lamb (La Vernia, Tex.) finished 35th in the 200 Invite with a time of 22.64 and ran 7.28 seconds in the 60 Meters.
The Bears were repped by four runners in the 800 Meters, and
Miles Taylor (Austin, Tex.) wound up with the top time out of the quartet with a 1:56.60 personal record. Also PR'ing was
Darius Kirvelevicius (East Lyme, Conn.) at 1:58.38, while
Sam Myers (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) and
Christian Gottlieb (Harpers Ferry, W.Va.) wound up between two by tying at 1:57.15.
Brendan Fant (East Lyme, Conn.) rounded it out by setting a new personal best in the mile, running 4:14.24, while
Dylan Reed (Caledonia, Miss.) completed the race in 4:26.71.
More cadet-athletes from Bears men's track & field will be competing tomorrow in the Cupid Challenge at Tufts University. The Jumbos' Valentines Day meet is set to start at 9 AM ET.
