The Coast Guard Academy sailing team launched their spring season with regattas in Los Angeles; Charleston, Boston, and New London over the past two weekends. Additionally, the dinghy squad completed during their annual spring break training trip in Charleston, which featured seven days of intense preparation for the next few month's competitions.
Los Angeles, Calif. – Port of LA Harbor Cup (Mar 7-9)
The Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup was hosted by Cal Maritime. The team raced Catalina 37s in shifty, windy conditions and finished ninth overall. Representing the team were

Charleston, S.C. – Bob Bavier Team Race (Mar 8-9)
Hosted by the College of Charleston, the Bob Bavier Team Race marked a strong start for the dinghy sailors' spring season. Coast Guard finished fourth behind Stanford, Charleston, and Roger Williams while battling not only the other teams but also the strong current of the Cooper River. New London, Conn. – Open and Women's Southern New England Team Races (Mar 15-16)
The Open and Women's Southern New England Team Races were hosted by Connecticut College. As the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association's (NEISA)Â first major regatta of the season, the Bears faced challenging conditions on the mighty Thames River. With fog and intermittent winds throughout the weekend, the team completed over 13 races. The open team placed seventh and the women's team finished sixth. Boston, Mass. – Ivan Geiger Team Race (Mar 15-16)
The Ivan Geiger Team Race was hosted by MIT. In their first spring regatta on the Charles River, the Bears fought hard against teams from across New England and navigated extremely varied conditions. After completing two round robins and 14 races, Coast Guard finished sixth. The sailors for this regatta were Zylinski, Austin,

RESULTS
The sailing team's upcoming weekend of competition from March 22nd through the 23rd keeps them home for the Jan Friis Team Race while taking them to Tufts for the Duplin Women's Team Race and SUNY Maritime for the Admiral Moore Open Team Race. The following weekend, from March 29th through the 30th, will see the Bears host the first round of the J70 Invitational while traveling to back to MIT for the Cardinal Marchiando Trophy and to Tufts for the Jumbo Team Race. Coast Guard will also compete at Bowdoin's Callahan Team Race and Salve Regina's Team Race Invitational.
