NEW LONDON, Conn. --
The Coast Guard Bears swept the day earning victories over #19 NYU(29-11) and Bridgewater State(47-0). Prior to the meet, the Bears honored their five seniors:
Agustus Edwards(Glenpool, OK),
Charlie Gruen(Cary, IL),
Kenny Marra(Salem, OH),
Truman Noble(Plant City, FL), and
Chase Randall(Spokane, WA). Unfortunately due to injury, Noble was unable to compete on senior day but the four other Bears each won their matches.
After the victories, #14 Coast Guard improves to 11-1 on the year. They will travel to Kings Point, NY on Wednesday February 12th at 7:00 PM to compete in the historic battle vs rival Merchant Marine.
The first meet of the day for CGA was vs #19 ranked New York University. Beyond the aforementioned seniors DiGiorgio, Marra, and Randall, four other Bears were victorious over the Violets of NYU.
Owen Woolcott(State College, PA) won by sudden victory at 141.
Nathan Fitt(Branchville, NJ) continued his stellar junior campaign with a major decision victory at 149. At 165,
Landon Kearns(East Brunswick, NJ) won 10-0 by major decision. Lastly, 174
Caden Stout won 18-9 by major decision.
The NYU Violets, 13-6 on the season, will next travel to the University Athletic Association(UAA) Championship on February 15th at 11:00 AM.
In the last meet of the day, Coast Guard defeated Bridgewater State 47-0. Seniors Edwards(149), Gruen(141), and Randall(133) each won their matches. 125
Nikko Beato(San Diego, CA) started the meet with a victory by fall at 3:38. 157
