BOSTON, Mass. - After day one of this year's New England Division III (NED3) Indoor Championships, Coast Guard men's track & field sits in 21st place.
The highlight of the first day of competition was the distance medley relay team of
Sam Myers (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.),
Christian Gottlieb (Harpers Ferry, W.Va.),
Miles Taylor (Austin, Tex.), and
James Kuduk (Harleysville, Pa.) earning All-New England honors by running 10:34.51 to finish eighth in the event.
Glenn Patrick (Fairhope, Ala.) placed 19th in the 60-yard dash with a time of 7.06. Patrick's time was an improvement on his seed and his second-fastest of the season, the fastest being the new Academy record he set just last weekend at Springfield College's Triangle Classic.
In the 600-meters, local legend Brendan Fant (East Lyme, Conn.) placed 23rd after running 1:23.69, while the 5,000-meters resulted in a 12th-place finish for Paul Hobbs (Vacaville, Calif.) after running 15:09.38. In the field events, Vincent Grillo (Wilmington, Del.) was 20th in the shot put after tossing it 13.63 meters (44' 8.75").
The NED3 Indoor Championships will resume tomorrow with the first events of the day slated to start at 11 am.
