SPRINGFIELD, MA –
The NEWA Futures Tournament is a staple of New England collegiate wrestling, providing a platform for developing wrestlers to showcase their skills. Unlike the NEWA Duals, which highlight top varsity competitors in a team-based format, the Futures Tournament focuses on individual performances, enabling wrestlers to gain valuable experience. Held annually, the event features wrestlers from across the region, fostering competition and growth within the sport.
This year, Coast Guard sent a strong group of competitors and wound up finishing in 2nd place(just two points behind 1st place Castleton) out of 15 participating schools.
The Bears had three victors, 149
Mike Edwards(Glenpool, OK), 157
Nicholas Marck(Aldie, VA), and 197
Kevin Pandorf(Elmer, NJ). Their five second place finishers were 133
Jake Bennett(Waterford, CT), 141
Robert Rerras(Herndon, VA), 157
Joey Miranda(South Harrison, NJ), and 165s

Thomas Rhodes(Last Forest Park, WA). Their lone 3rd place finisher on the day was 197 freshman
