The U.S. Coast Guard Academy sailing team turned in an impressive weekend across multiple venues, highlighted by a podium finish from the offshore team at the American Yacht Club Fall Regatta and a strong home performance from the open dinghy team that secured qualification for the Atlantic Coast Championship Finals.

The Bears' offshore squad delivered standout results at the American Yacht Club Fall Regatta, where Stormy Petrel earned a third place podium finish in class, and Cool Breeze placed eighth, finishing ahead of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Stormy Petrel sailed three races, while Cool Breeze completed five over the two-day event.

New London, Conn. — Open Atlantic Coast Championship, Round 1B
At home, the Bears' open dinghy team placed seventh out of 18 teams in a national showcase event, finishing one position behind the U.S. Naval Academy and qualifying for the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Finals, to be held at USNA on October 18th and 19th.
The A-Division team of Bradley Whiteway (Potomac, Md.) and Charlie Pohl (Euclid, Ohio) finished in a three-way tie for fifth, ultimately sixth after tiebreakers, while the B-Division crew of Luke Zylinski (Lavalette, N.J.) and Grace Austin (Moorpark, Calif.) finished eighth after eight races.

Bristol, R.I. — Sister Esther Trophy
At Roger Williams University, the Bears placed 10th out of 18 teams in light and variable conditions. Only four races were completed due to limited wind, with a delay until 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The A-Division team of Julian Henderson (Camden, Maine), Richard Pokorny (Brick Township, N.J.), and Peter Judge (Severna Park, Md.) finished tenth, and the B-Division duo Will Clay (Leonardtown, Md.) and Will Bryant (Lawrenceville, Ga.) placed 12th.

New London, Conn. — Stu Nelson Trophy
The Lady Bears competed at Connecticut College, finishing ninth out of 17 teams in the three-division Stu Nelson Trophy. Seven races were completed, providing valuable experience across all divisions.
The A-Division team of Meara Conley (Hingham, Mass.) and Sydney Zylinski (Lavalette, N.J.) placed tenth; the B-Division team of Caroline Odell (Burke, Va.) and Grace Boudreau (Tequesta, Fla.) finished eighth; and the C-Division crew of Allie Nystrom (Centerville, Mass.) and Gabriella Fields (Key West, Fla.) placed 15th.

Looking ahead to this coming weekend, the Bears will compete in four major events: the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta (Offshore at Larchmont Yacht Club, Larchmont, N.Y.); the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Final (Dinghy at MIT), the Nevins Trophy (Dinghy at Kings Point); and the Savin Hill Invite (Dinghy at Boston College).
