Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - Bears Baseball took on Mitchell in a home match-up played at the Mariners' field due to weather, falling to the cross-town rival, 8-7.
Each team put up one in the first inning Mitchell striking first with Coast Guard tying it up in the home half.
Wyatt Duthu launched one over the right field fence for a solo homer that put CGA on the board.Â
Both teams were quiet in the second before Coast Guard added two more in the bottom of the third. With a runner on,
John Tacchini hit and RBI double, followed by
Nathan Stafford getting a double of his own to bring in Duthu and put the Bears up, 3-1.Â
Mitchell got two back in the next half inning to tie the game at three. It didn't last long as Coast Guard got an RBI from
Jack Steel to go up, 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth.
Later in the home half of the fourth, with the bases loaded, Tacchini walked to bring in another run for CGA.
Luke Percifield then scored on a wild pitch to put the Bears up, 6-3.Â
Into the bottom of the sixth, the Bears extended their lead at Stafford hit his second double of the game to bring in CGA's seventh run.Â
Top of the seventh, Mitchell tied it up at seven as they added four runs. The Mariners added another to take the lead, 8-7.Â
In the home half, the Bears had an opportunity to strike as runners got on base, but didn't capitalize, ending the game in seven, 8-7.Â
Coast Guard will next play at MIT on April 20th in a DH beginning at 12 PM.
