Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Bears Baseball finished out their final regular season New England Women and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play today beating Springfield 11-2.
In the first two innings, the scoreboard remained empty. Then in the top of the third, the Pride added two runs to take the lead.
Bears loaded the bases in the bottom of the third after Blake Carroll started a two out rally for CGA. The Bears were able to get one run in after a Springfield wild pitch for a 2-1 score.
B. Carroll got up in the bottom of the fifth and hit a two-run bomb and gave the Bears a 3-2 lead.
CGA held Springfield to a no-score for two innings.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, a Jack Steel RBI started another Bears rally. Richard Barkley got up next and doubled, scoring another for the Bears. CGA scored two more off a Springfield error.
Grayson Irwin got up with bases loaded and hit a grand slam to extend CGA's lead to 11-2.
Bears would hold the Pride and take the game for a final score of 11-2.
Jack steel was three for three at the plate with one RBI. B. Carroll was two for three at the plate with two RBIs and Grayson Irwin was one for four with a grand slam on the day.
Jack Spinnato secured the win for the Bears on the bump.
That concludes the 2023 season for CGA Baseball as they look to make NEWMAC playoffs in the 2024 season.
