Box Score 2 BROCKTON, Mass. -- Over the weekend, CGA Baseball continued in New England Women and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play against Emerson, dropping game one, 7-6, but coming back and winning game two also by a score of 7-6.
In game one, the Bears took the lead first in the top of the first. However, the Lions answered right back to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning.
The entire game was a back-and-forth battle, and CGA was winning 6-5 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. Unfortunately, the Lions were able to get two runs across homeplate and secure the 7-6 win in game one.
Richard Barkley went three for four at the plate with three RBIs and Jack Steel went three for five in game one. On the mound, Tyler Michalek had six strikeouts in his three innings pitched.
In game two, the Lions got up 3-0 on the Bears in the bottom of the second inning. In the top of the third, CGA answered back adding two runs to the scoreboard.
In the top of the seventh, CGA finally tied up the score 4-4. Emerson would take the lead back in the bottom of the seventh, hitting in two runs, for a 6-4 lead.
The Bears wouldn't be able to get any runs in the top of the eighth, but they would also hold the Lions in the bottom of the inning. Then, in the top of the ninth, Blake Carroll would start the rally for the Bears, singling and hitting in one run. Then Barkley got up and hit in two more runs.
Bears would hold the Lions in the bottom of the ninth and take game two, 7-6.
CGA Baseball is back in action tomorrow April 11th, at 3:30 PM where they'll face Babson on their home field.
