Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Despite a valiant effort, led by numerous shots on net from senior Anna Carleton, the Coast Guard Women's Soccer team fell to cross-town foe, Connecticut College, by a final score of 2-0.
Carleton led the Bears in shots and shots on goal. Junior Karagan Bulger and freshman Mia Forti also put shots on net. None were able to get past Conn College's keeper, Sarah Hall.
The Bears gave a variety of looks with four different substitutes tallying over 20 minutes of play in Teal Wasson (Fr.), Reilly Pogoloff (Sr.), Alexandra Murphy (Sr.), and Molly Huynh (Sr.). Grace Flynn (So.) and Renae Sanchez (Sr.) played all 90 minutes. Goalkeeper Emily Scharnitzky (So.) recorded three saves.
The two goal scorers for the Camels were forward, Jamie Scarpantonio - assisted by Mya Johnson - and midfielder, Lauren Anastos - assisted by Alexa Weiner. The goals were scored in the seventh minute and the 68th minute of the game, respectively.
Coast Guard falls to 3-2-0, while Connecticut College improves to 2-1 on the young season. The Bears are back in action next this Saturday, September 17th, as they open up New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play at Wellesley College at 2pm EST.
