Box Score NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton scored five runs in the fifth to erase a 6-4 deficit en route to a 9-6 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.
The Lyons improve to 22-10 overall and 11-3 in conference play while Coast Guard drops to 17-12 overall and 8-6 in the NEWMAC.
Greg Boland got the Bears on the board in the first with a two-run homer to center. He led the Bears with two hits in the game.
The Lyons pulled even in the second before Blake Carroll blasted a solo homer to center as Coast Guard regained the lead 3-2 in the top of the third.
Wheaton took the lead 4-3 on a two-run home run by Anthony Teberio in the bottom of the third.
In the fifth, Coast Guard scored three runs on an RBI single by Boland and a two-run double by John Carroll for a 6-4 lead.
Jake Studley hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth for Wheaton and the Lyons would send 11 men to the plate as the Lyons scored five runs taking a 9-6 lead.
Dan Wolf (2-1) took the loss in relief for Coast Guard.
The Bears are back in action on Friday in the final home game of the season against Springfield at 3:30, the first of a weekend three-game series to close out the regular season.
