Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Senior Cody Fidler was outstanding in his first collegiate start on the mound as he allowed just two hits and one run in seven innings as Coast Guard won its fourth straight at the Cal Ripken Experience with an 8-2 win over Eastern Nazarene.
Fidler (1-0) took a no hitter into the sixth until a one out single broke it up. He allowed a solo homer to lead off the seventh, the only run he would allow. He walked one and struck out one in the win.
Coast Guard improves to 4-1 on the season while the Lions drop to 5-3.
Nate Nam had three hits while Parker Madden, Blake George, Justin Stasiak each added two hits in the win while Blake Carroll homered for the Bears.
Carroll's solo homer in the fourth broke a scoreless tie before Wyatt Duthu added an RBI double later in the inning for a 2-0 lead.
The Bears added three runs in the sixth on an RBI double by George, an RBI double by Stasiak and an RBI single by Nam to take a 6-0 lead.
Nam added an RBI single in the eighth while Madden had an RBI single in the ninth.
The Bears play their final game in Myrtle Beach on Wednesday night against Bridgewater State at 6:30.
