Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Coast Guard rallied twice in dramatic fashion in the seventh and final inning to sweep a doubleheader from Bethany of West Virginia as the Bears won 7-6 and 6-4 at the Cal Ripken Experience.
Freshman Wyatt Duthu was 7 for 8 with three RBI's and three runs scored in the sweep.
The Bears are now 3-0 on the southern swing and 3-1 on the season.
Coast Guard is back in action on Tuesday when they take on Eastern Nazarene at 12:30.
GAME ONE – COAST GUARD 7, BETHANY 6
Parker Madden's walk-off pinch hit two run single, his first career hit, completed a three-run bottom of the seventh as the Bears stunned the Bison 7-6.
Coast Guard led 4-2 heading to the seventh before Bethany rallied for four runs to take a 6-4 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, Blake Carroll walked, Blake George was hit a pitch and Cody Fidler reached on an error on a sacrifice bunt to load the bases.
Duthu's infield single cut the deficit to 6-5 before Madden's two-run single to left set off a celebration in the home dugout.
Duthu was 4 for 4 in the game one win with a double and two RBI's for the Bears and he picked up his first career win in relief.
GAME TWO – COAST GUARD 6, BETHANY 4
Coast Guard trailed 4-3 in the seventh before the Bears scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take the 6-4 lead.
Madden was center stage again with a pinch hit single to start the seventh, he was bunted over by John Carroll before Duthu's RBI double tied the game 4-4. Blake Carroll then laced an RBI triple to right and score on an infield single by Fidler for the 6-4 lead.
Brock Soletti (1-0) allowed just one hit over the final 3 2/3 innings walked one batter and fanned three to pick up his first collegiate win.
Duthu was 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored while Fidler added a pair of hits in the game two win.
