Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Cody Fidler threw seven shutout innings allowing just four hits while walking one and striking out a career-high seven leading Coast Guard to a 12-1 win over Albertus Magnus.
Fidler improved to 3-0 on the season and lowered his team leading ERA to 0.76 as he has allowed just two earned runs in 23 2/3 innings this season.
Coast Guard is now 6-6 on the season while Albertus drops to 0-9.
Blake Carroll led the Bears 13 hit attack with three hits while Nate Name, John Carroll and Jack Steel each added two hits. Steel doubled while Nam tripled.
Steel led the way with three RBI's while Blake Carroll and Charles Red each drove in a pair in the win.
Joe Matthews and Jason Sullivan each had two hits for the Falcons. Michael Pepe (0-1) went the first four innings and allowed three earned runs to take the loss.
Coast Guard leading 1-0 scored three times in the fourth as Steel delivered an RBI double, Nam followed with an RBI triple as two outfielders collided and the Bears added an unearned run for a 4-0 lead.
The Bears blew the game wide open with six runs in the seventh as Wyatt Duthu had an RBI single and Red delivered a two-run double in the inning as the Bears took an 11-0 lead.
Albertus got on the board in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Sean Jefferson.
The Bears are back in action on Sunday in double header at Johnson and Wales at 1:00 as Coast Guard head coach Brian Casey will take on his brother Kevin, the JWU head coach.
