Box Score YORK, Pa. – Tyreek Perkins was one of six players in double figures with a team-high 20 points leading Albertus Magnus to its 11th straight win a 103-95 win over Coast Guard in the battle of Connecticut schools at the York College Spartan Classic.
The Falcons, one the top teams in the New England region, improve to 11-1 on the season while the Bears even their record at 5-5.
Justin Kane led the Bears with 22 points and 12 rebounds, his second double-double of the season.
J.T. Cox had career-highs with 16 points and eight rebounds. Packy Witkowski and Noah Baldez each added 14 points for the Bears, who had a season-high with the 95 points. Baldez earned a spot on the All-tournament team.
The Bears shot 43.7 percent (31 of 71) while making just 3 of 17 from behind the arc. Albertus Magnus was 33 of 65 from the field (50.8 percent) and made 9 of 22 from 3-point range.
Coast Guard would use a 10-0 run to open up a 20-11 lead in the first five minutes of the game.
The Bears led 32-25 before Albertus ran off seven straight to tie it with 8:50 left in the first half. Coast Guard led 50-45 with 2:08 left in the half, but the Falcons used a 10-2 run to close out the half with a 55-52 lead. Kane had 16 points to lead the Bears in the opening half.
Albertus, which never trailed in the second half, pushed its lead to 83-74 with 9:39 left .
The Falcons led 90-82 with 5:31 left before the Bears ran off six straight to make the score 90-88 follwing a trifecta from Witkowski.
Albertus answered with a 7-2 run taking a 97-90 lead with 2:32 left to take control.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday when they open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play at Emerson at 2:00.
