Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Alex Murdoch, the only senior on the team, had a career-high five hits in his final collegiate game to finish with 100 career hits and junior Will Stephens also collected the 100th hit of his career as Coast Guard closed out the season with a 20-0 win over Emerson at Clark University.
Coast Guard led 10-0 in the middle of the first when the game was halted earlier in season a today's game began in the home half of the first.
Murdoch was 5 for 6 with three RBI's and three runs scored. Junior Jeremy Lhotka was 4 for 5 with a double and three runs scored while freshman Dylan Roberts was 2 for 2 in the win.
Junior Walter Harris (2-3) combined with four relievers for the combined four-hit shutout. Harris worked five innings and allowed just one hit while junior Jack Brandt, freshman PJ Gravalec, sophomore Ben Webster and sophomore Brett Sullivan all threw scoreless innings for the Bears.
Sophomore Jon Pressley had a two-run single in the first while Murdoch had an RBI single and Lhotka added an RBI double.
Murdoch had a two-run single in the third before junior Reed Jenkins' two-run triple gave the Bears a 14-0 lead.
Roberts and freshman Dan Phillips each had RBI singles in the ninth while junior Jake Behne had a two-run double as the Bears scored six times in the ninth.
Coast Guard finishes the season 11-18 overall and 4-13 in the NEWMAC.
