Salve Regina Beats Bears 14-7

FORT MYERS, Fla.—Salve Regina led 9-1 and held off Coast Guard 14-7 at the Gene Cusic Classic.

Salve Regina scored three runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings for a 9-1 lead before scoring five in the sixth to take a 14-2 lead.

Sophomore Anthony Martin (0-1) was the starter and loser for Coast Guard as he worked 3 1/3 innings allowing seven hits, six runs, three earned while walking three and fanning two.

Sophomore Kyle Pheland got the win for the Seahawks as he worked the first five innings.

Senior Nolan Gallagher continues to swing a hot bat down South as he was 3 for 5 with a double and three RBI's while sophomore Tim Betts had two hits including a double and two RBI's and senior Eric Gerken had two hits and drove in a run for Coast Guard.

"We didn't play well today," said Coast Guard head coach C.C. Grant. "We didn't pitch well, we didn't hit and we didn't field well, making six errors in unacceptable."

The Bears, who are now 2-2 on the season, are back in action on Monday morning at 10 a.m. against Drew.
