NEW LONDON, Conn. —
United States Coast Guard Academy sophomore track & field athlete
Tytan Moore (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and freshman lacrosse player
Abby Keller (Souderton, Pa.) have been named the CoastGuardAthletics.com Cadet-Athletes of the Week, presented by First Command, for their athletics performances during the week ending on Sunday, March 29th.
Moore won two events at the Monmouth Outdoor Opener on Saturday the 28th. The sophomore placed first overall in the long jump with a top mark of 6.66 meters (21' 10.25") and later secured the top finish in triple jump with a bound of 13.65 meters (44' 9.5").
Meanwhile, Keller produced a pair of key defensive performances for women's lax in a pair of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference wins. On Wednesday the 25th, versus Emerson College, the freshman contributed to a 19-8 victory with a career-high and game-leading three caused turnovers. She later matched that mark in the team's 11-6 victory over Springfield on Saturday, the first win against the Pride in program history.
Moore and the track & field team will be back in action this weekend on Saturday, April 4th, as the program hosts their lone outdoor meet for the season. Keller and women's lax will also return on Saturday to travel to Northampton, Massachusetts, for further in-conference action against Smith College (7-3, 3-1 NEWMAC).
