MARLBOROUGH, Mass. —

Four cadet-athletes from the United States Coast Guard Academy have been selected to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference's (NEWMAC) 2026 Winter Sportsmanship Team.

The list is intended to recognize a member of each of the NEWMAC's member institutions in each sport who embodies the conference's expectations and Code of Conduct regardless of overall performance for the season. Honorees are selected by their respective coaches and have demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior that go above and beyond their sports' playing rules and etiquette.

Bears men's basketball was represented by senior guard Elijah Parent (Bristol, Conn.) with his second career appointment to the list and first since 2024. Also earning his second Sportsmanship nod was swimmer Blaise Minckler (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), marking back-to-back appearances. Women's basketball placed senior forward Farrah Peterein (Oxnard, Calif.), while freshman Kendra Hiigel (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) was the rep for USCGA women's swim and dive.
