MARLBOROUGH, Mass. —
U.S. Coast Guard Academy women's basketball senior
Dorothy Stotts (Edina, Minn.) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference's (NEWMAC) Athlete of the Week for her performance during the week ending on Sunday, February 8th.
Stotts averaged 31.0 points per game across a 1-1 week in NEWMAC play for the Bears last week. The senior had 19 points in a 47-62 loss at Springfield College on Wednesday before pouring in 43 on Saturday in to lead her team to an 83-74 Senior Day victory over Emerson College in an instant classic. Stotts' performance versus the Lions marked just the second time a Bears women's basketball player has eclipsed the 40-point mark, putting the Minnesotan in the same company as program legend Natalie Moyer '08 (2006 vs. Albertus College).
Stotts and the women's basketball team face another pair of NEWMAC games in the upcoming week, traveling to Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday, February 11th, and hosting the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Saturday, February 14th.
