Saturday afternoon, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy men's basketball snapped their 3 game losing streak as they beat fellow NEWMAC team Clark University 81-76 at Roland Gymnasium.Â
The Bears improve to 7-14 on the season and 3-10 in the NEWMAC. Following their third straight loss, the Clark Cougars sit at 12-10 and 7-6 in NEWMAC. The Cougars will play again on Wednesday February 11th as they host Wheaton College (14-7, 7-5).Â
Coast Guard would find themselves down 12-6 in the first 5 minutes of the contest. The Bears managed to erase the 6-point deficit, and after mostly a back-and-fourth first half the Bears would take a 41-39 point lead at the end of the first half. Â
Coast Guard jumped out the gates to start the second half scoring 9 unanswered points. The Bears commanded as high as 14 point lead, before the Cougars clawed their way back to tie the game at 67-67. Clark University's star freshmanÂ
Aliaun Iscandari would score 25 points before fouling out of the game with 7 minutes remaining in the contest. Â
