NEW LONDON, Conn. — 

U.S. Coast Guard Academy track & field cadet-athletes Garrett Lamb (La Vernia, Tex.) and Bianca McIntosh (Woodbridge, Va.) have been named the CoastGuardAthletics.com Athletes of the Week, presented by First Command, for their performances during the week ending on Sunday, February 1st.

Lamb, a sophomore sprinter, set two personal records and moved up the men's track & field all-time leaderboards during Saturday's second day of the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University. His time of 22.27 in the open 200 put him at 25th overall in the meet #3 spot on the Academy's indoor list. Lamb also claimed sole ownership of the seventh-best 60 dash in USCGA history with a 7.19, and was later the opening leg to a 4x400 relay team that posted a time of 3:22.31, the fastest 4x4 since 2020.

McIntosh had a similar day of improvement during day one of the Terrier Classic on Friday. The freshman sprinter ran 1:00.21 in the open 400 for a personal best and a new eighth-best time in the event in Bears history. McIntosh later improved her 200 time to 26.54 before helping Coast Guard's 4x400 team for the day run 3:54.49, the second-fastest 4x4 in women's program history.

Lamb, McIntosh, and the rest of Bears track & field will be back in action this Friday, February 6th, in Gregory Field House for their second and final indoor home meet of the season.
