CAMBRIDGE, Mass. —
The United States Coast Guard Academy women's swimming & diving moved up to second place in the 2026 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Swimming & Diving team standings following a pair of podium finishes in both of the evenings' relay events.
The tournament opened on Thursday evening with the 800 Free Relay final as the lone event. Coast Guard A-relay team of
Mikayla Jolley (Las Vegas, Nev.),
Liliana Feyk (Carlsbad, Calif.),
Kendra Hiigel (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), and
Megan Doubrava (Aurora, Colo.) took fourth place with a time of 7:52.85, missing out on the podium by just three seconds to Wellesley College.
The second day opened with the first podium placement of the weekend for the Bears' women after
Julia Thomas (Chandlet, Ariz.),
Eleanor Murphy (McLean, Va.),
Kathleen O'Shea (Decatur, Ga.), and
Sam Halvorson (Chesapeake, Va.) placed third in the 200 Free Relay at 1:36.38. The time was just 0.47 short of tying the program record.
Next up was the first individual race of the weekend, the 500 Free, which saw Doubrava as the top Bear with a sixth-place in the A-final at 5:11.49. Also competing in the A-final was
Zoe Suhadja (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who took eighth with a 5:13.71 swim, and Jolley, who finished tenth in the top heat at 5:19.14.
The highlight of the night in individual action for USCGA came from
Madelyn Paxton (Mechanicsburg, Va.), who swam the 200 IM final and just barely secured an NCAA B-Cut time of 2:07.06 for fourth in the event. Next was the 50 Free, which saw Thomas finish fourth at 24.00 seconds and Halvorson in seventh 24.23 seconds.
The evening's diving intermission focused on the 1-meter board, and
Phoebe Jane Allred (Seattle, Wash.) placed tenth in her NEWMAC Championship debut with a final score of 343.15 before the night concluded with the 400 Medley Relay. The race culminated in the Bears' second podium appearance of the weekend after Halvorson, Hurst, Paxton, and Thomas took third with a time of 3:54.97.
