Women's Rowing Wraps Up 2025 Campaign at the NIRC

WORCESTER, Mass. —

The Coast Guard Academy women's rowing team brought their 2025 season to a close last Sunday, May 11th, as the team competed at Lake Quinsigamond in the annual National Invitational Rowing Championship.

In the morning heats, the Varsity 8 boat narrowly missed qualifying for the petite finals after finishing fifth in their heat, 1.5 seconds behind Hamilton College. The 2V8 crew put together a strong performance to finish fourth, just four seconds behind NEWMAC foe Wellesley College, to the petite final. Closing out the morning heats, the 3V8 finished solidly in fourth with a time of 7:13, advancing the crew to the petite final in the afternoon.

Following the break, all four Coast Guard crews lined up in their respective finals in the afternoon. The 4V8 finished seventh in their final event, eight seconds behind Wellesley College with a season best time for the boat at 7:48. The 3V8 was able to put together their best race of the season, winning the petite final with a time of 7:06; the 2V8 faced some tough competition in the petite final, ultimately finishing two seconds off of Hamilton in sixth; and concluding the afternoon racing, the V8 raced to a heavy-handed win in the third level final with a time of 6:52.
