WESTWOOD, Mass. —
After their historic 26 win season and 2nd place finish in the NEWMAC standings, Coast Guard baseball had six men named to the All-Conference Team. Rick Barkley (Bellevue, WA), Carson Cho (Haymarket, VA), Vito Giordano (Scarsdale, NY), and Parker Madden (Ruston, LA) were all on the 1st team with Nathan Stafford (Jupiter, FL) and Jackson Dorsey (Newark, DE) earning 2nd team honors.
Rick Barkley hit .295 with 43 hits and a Coast Guard record 10 Home Runs. He was 3rd in the conference in homers and 15th in RBI with 34.
Carson Cho followed up a successful rookie season last year with an incredible sophomore campaign. He was 4th in the NEWMAC in AVG(.398), 4th in Runs(46), 3rd in hits(66), and 2nd in doubles(17).
Bears ace Vito Giordano had a stellar 6-1 sophomore season. He was tied for 4th in wins, 3rd in ERA(2.21), 9th in IP(53), and 11th in batting average against(2.42).
Parker Madden finished off his Coast Guard career with a 1st team all-conference nod. He hit .299, with 47 hits, 13 doubles, five HRs, and 27 RBI. One of the best defenders in the conference, Parker caught 10 men stealing, allowed just four passes balls, and was 2nd in the conference in stolen base percentage(.667).
Nathan Stafford finds himself on the All-Conference team for the second time in as many years at the Academy. The slugging first baseman hit .317 with 52 hits, five homers, and 33 RBI.
Jackson Dorsey was dominant out of the pen for Coast Guard to earn 2nd team honors. He led the conference in ERA(1.69), he was 12th in K's(41), 2nd in saves(4), and 2nd in batting average against(.191).
