In their first home games of the season, the Bears bats came alive with 15-1 and 12-3 victories in the twin bill. For Keene State, the losses drop them to 4-7. They will next travel to Roger Williams on Thursday May 20th at 3:00 PM.
On the mound in game one for the Bears was
Vito Giordano(Scarsdale, NY). The sophomore earned his third victory of the season with 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, and 4 K's. After Giordano came a pair of scoreless innings from seniors
Aidan Andersen(Waukesha, WI) and
Bode Dykens(Lamoni, IA).
At the plate, Coast Guard was held to just two runs through five innings.
Rick Barkley(Seattle, WA) singled in
Wyatt Duthu(Madison, AL) in the first and in the second, Duthu singled in
Jack Steel(Medford Lakes, NJ). In the 6th inning, the offense broke through for 12 runs, nearly batting around twice.

Jack Steel each had two RBI in the inning. In the bottom of the 8th inning, the Bears got two more insurance runs with a bang when senior
Ryan Lista(San Diego, CA) hit a pinch hit, two run home run for the first home run of his college career.
In game two, Coast Guard again jumped ahead early, this time scoring three runs in the first.
Nathan Stafford and
Rick Barkley each hit RBI singles, Stafford scoring
Carson Cho(Haymarket, VA) and Barkley scoring Stafford. Later in the inning,
Parker Madden(Ruston, LA) scored on a balk to make it 3-0. Keene State got one run back in the top of the 2nd but
Carson Cho got it right back in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single to score
Wyatt Duthu.
Two innings later, Duthu would etch his name into the Coast Guard baseball record book. His one out 4th inning single was the 100th hit of his illustrious career. "Great to see Wyatt hit that milestone." said Coach Casey. "I feel it's a measure of his consistency and being a good hitter throughout his career." On the day, Duthu went 6-11 with five runs scored and three RBI.
Coast Guard again had a big 6th inning, this time scoring four runs with
Parker Madden,
Rick Barkley,
Ayden Gurevich(Lake Worth, FL) and
Kael Godshalk(Bangor, PA) each driving in runs.
In game two; Duthu, Cho, and Godshalk each had two hits with
Rick Barkley and
Luke Percifield(Pinellas Park, FL) each netting three.
Parker Madden and
Rick Barkley each had two RBI to lead CGA in the afternoon.
On the mound,
Raymond Priddy(Chico, CA) notched his first victory of the year with 5 IP, 6 K's, 5 H, and just on earned run. Behind Priddy,
Jackson Dorsey(Newark, DE) threw a scoreless 6th inning,
John DiMarsico(Severna Park, MD) struck out the side in the 7th, and
Tyler Michalek(Haslet, TX) threw scoreless 8th and 9th innings, striking out two, and allowing no hits to secure the win.
The two wins improve CGA to 6-3. They will host Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday March 18th at 3:30 and look to extend their winning streak to four.
