This past weekend the sailing team competed in six regattas. This was the dinghy squad's first weekend of competition while the offshore sailors have been competing for a few weekends. Highlights for the weekend include the Bears sailing extremely well in a very windy Commodore's Cup securing the team 3rd in class.
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Admiral Pine Trophy was hosted at home this weekend. This was the first J70 event of the year for both dinghy and offshore and was a qualifier for the NEISA Match Race Championship in two weekends. The team sailed two boats against some of the best sailors in the nation. Winds ranged from 5-14 knots which provided great racing. 12 races were sailed, and it was a battle for all sailors the entire regatta. Both CGA boats gave it their all and sailed extremely well throughout the entire regatta. Bears 1 was tied for 2nd going into the last race but had a poor finish which led to them getting 6th out of 9. Bears 2 also fought hard and finished in a strong 7th out of 9 in a challenging fleet of sailors. Unfortunately, the team did not qualify for the NEISA Match Race Championship because they did not get top 4 but were extremely close. The team was represented by
Laura Slovensky '25,
Jack Derry '25,
Colman Schofield '25, and
Charles Pohl '26 on Bears 1, and
