The United States Coast Guard Academy sailing team delivered a standout weekend across five regattas, highlighted by a decisive victory at SUNY Maritime College's Admiral Moore Team Race and multiple strong finishes against competitive fields.
THROGGS NECK, N.Y. — The headline performance came at the Admiral Moore Team Race, where the Bears captured the regatta title. In a tightly contested event hosted by NY Maritime, Coast Guard completed all three round robins in a single day and emerged victorious after a three-way tiebreak with Maritime and Fordham University. BOSTON, Mass. — The momentum continued at the Boston College Team Race, where the Bears earned a third place finish. BRISTOL, R.I. — At the Roger Williams Team Race, the Bears battled through two full round robins to secure a fifth place finish. Demand, Riccio, Conley, Zylinski, White, and Spada showed consistency across a competitive field.
NEW LONDON, Conn. — Hosting J70 Invite #1 on the Thames River, the Bears fielded two teams in challenging and shifting conditions. Day one brought a strong 18-25 knot northerly breeze before easing into more tactical racing on day two. The Bears 1 crew of Ned Jobson (Madison, Conn.), Connor Lawlor (Woodstock, Ga.), Tony Brown (King George, Va.), and Elizabeth Hetzler (Carlton, Oreg.) placed fifth overall, while Bears 2 team Audrey Beckman (West Chester, Pa.), John Cecil (Annapolis, Md.), Ben de Ondarza (West Chazy, N.J.) Keith Teague (Austin, Tex.), and Ron Lac (Anaheim, Calif.) finished seventh.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — At the Friis Trophy hosted by Harvard, the Bears placed eighth overall in an extremely competitive fleet. Benjamin Reeser (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Peter Judge (Severna Park, Md.), Richard Pokorny (Brick Township, N.J.), Isabella Clark (Newport Beach, Calif.), Julian Henderson (Camden, Maine), and Gavin VanManen (Grand Rapids, Mich.) completed two round robins and ultimately did not qualify to move onto the final four.
