NORFOLK, Va. —
The Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) announced its 2024-25 All-Academic Team, recognizing outstanding student-athletes who have excelled both on the water and in the classroom. Although the list was released earlier this year, we are thrilled to highlight the exceptional Bears who earned this prestigious distinction.
The ICSA All-Academic Team honors juniors and seniors who have competed in at least seven regattas during the academic year while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher. This year's selectiong from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy exemplify the balance of academic rigor and elite athletic performance that defines the program.
Nic Reeser '25 (Wilton Manors, Fla.)
— Reeser turned in a standout season, appearing in 12 regattas and delivering key results across multiple disciplines. His top finishes included:
- 3rd at the New England Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Singlehanded Championship
- 4th in B-Division at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship
- 5th in A-Division at the NEISA Fleet Race Championship
Daniel Neville '25 (Plantation, Fla.) — Neville's consistent presence across 12 regattas helped anchor the Bears' depth throughout the season. He notched several strong performances, highlighted by:
- 6th in B-Division at the Danmark Trophy
- 4th in B-Division at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship
- 5th in A Division at the NEISA Fleet Race Championship
Jack Derry '25 (East Lyme, Conn.) — A key contributor in match racing, Derry competed in 13 events and excelled at the national level. His notable achievements include:
- 3rd at the ICSA Match Race National Championship
- 4th at the NEISA Match Race Championship
- 4th at the Bob Bavier Open Team Race
Colman Schofield '25 (Yorktown, Va.) — One of the team's busiest sailors with 16 regattas, Schofield posted impressive results throughout the season, including:
- 2nd in A-Division at the Danmark Trophy
- 3rd at the ICSA Match Race National Championship
- 5th at the Jan Friis Team Race
Luke Zylinski (Lavalette, N.J.) — Though a junior during the 2024-2025 season, Zylinski already competes with the poise of a veteran. His 14-regatta season featured several top-tier finishes, such as:
- 4th in B-Division at the Oberg Trophy
- 3rd in B-Division at the Rose Bowl Regatta
- 4th in-A Division at the Admiral's Cup
This year's honorees continue CGA's proud legacy of developing scholar-athletes who thrive under the dual demands of competition and academics. Their accomplishments reflect the strength of the program and the dedication of each sailor.
