MOUNT HOLYOKE, Mass. - Coast Guard competed in the Division 3 New England Championships hosted at Mt Holyoke College where the men's team placed 11th overall scoring 29 points in a three way tie with Babson College and Wesleyan University. After the close of the meet, the Bears had eight athletes that earned 9x All-New England honors.
Coast Guard's top finisher for the day was freshman Ian Naff in the 400m dash. Naff was Runner-up running 48.68, just .02 behind the first place spot on his way to an outdoor best in that event. His time of 48.68 stands at #4 CGA All-Time. Naff also ran 22.10 in the 200m to place 8th overall and earn his second All New England honors for the meet.
Sophomore Josh Banks finishes New England DIIIÂ Runner-up in the pole vault after clearing 5.02m (16' 5.5"). Banks matched the height clearance of winner Ben Drummey from Southern Maine, but Drummey had the win on misses. Both Banks and Drummey set a facility record.
In the 10,000m run, both Paul Hobbs and Jack Davidson placed 4th and 5th setting personal records and etching top-10 Coast Guard performances. Hobbs ran 31:53.61 to put him at #2 Coast Guard All-Time while Jack Davidson landed himself at #5 on the top-10 list with a 32:15.07.
The men's 4x800 of Brendan Fant, Christian Gottlieb, Ryan Weston and Brian Green posted a CGA #5 All-Time performance of 7:53.72. Their time landed them in 6th overall in the relay event.
