Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - Baseball hosted Wheaton in a single game on Tuesday, falling to the Lyons after attempting a comeback, with a final score of 10-5.
The Lyons posted the first runs of the game in the opening inning, going 4-0 into the bottom.Â
Coast Guard was able to hold them off through the next few innings until the top of the fourth, where Wheaton added three more. In the home half of the inning, CGA put up its first runs of the game.
Kael Godshalk stepped up and singled to bring in
Richard Barkley. Two batters later,
Wyatt Duthu hit a three-RBI double to bring the Bears within three with a score of 7-4.
In the bottom of the fifth, another run was tacked on for the Bears as
John Tacchini hit a sacrifice fly to bring the game to 7-5 heading into the sixth.
Wheaton got one back in the top of the eight, putting Coast Guard down by three. The Lyons added two more in the next inning, making the score 10-5 head into the bottom of the ninth.Â
The Bears couldn't make anything happen in the home half, ending the game, 10-5.Â
Coast Guard will next host Worcester St. on April 10th at 3:30 PM.
