Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - Baseball hosted Trinity in game two for the week against the Bantams, dropping the game in the late innings with a final score of 14-8.
Trinity got out in front early with a two-run top of the first. Coast Guard answered back on the bottom of the third and went up, 3-2. With the bases loaded,
Luke Percifield singled to center to bring in two. In the best at-bat,
Blake George had a sac fly to bring in another.Â
Into the top of the fourth, Trinity tied it up at three. A little later, the Bantams regained the lead, 4-3. The Bears didn't let the lead last long as
Carson Cho went yard to tie the game up at four in the home half of the inning.Â
Both teams were quiet until the seventh inning when Trinity took the lead again, 6-4. Coast Guard got one back in the bottom half when
Nathan Stafford made contact and an error by Trinity's center fielder drove in
Wyatt Duthu.
Top of the eighth, Trinity added two more to its lead making it 8-5 heading into the bottom half. Home half of the inning, the Bears cut it back to two as George hit another sac fly for an RBI.
Into the final inning, the Bears were down, 8-6. The top half of the ninth, the Bantams broke it open by scoring six runs. CGA got two back in the bottom, but still fell, 14-8.Â
Coast Guard will next play at Merchant Marine on March 26th at 4 PM.Â
