ORLANDO, Flo. - Coast Guard closed out its Spring Break Trip with a 5-4 win over Coe College, going 2-1 on the trip.
In doubles action, Myles Decoste and Charles Norman took the first point of the day at #1 doubles, 8-3. The nationally ranked duo continued their winning streak in Florida and currently sit at 14-3 on the season against Division III opponents in tournament and dual match play.
At #2 doubles, Sean Dreher and Ben Bonetto notched the 2nd point for the Bears winning 8-5. Dreher and Bonetto went a perfect 3-0 on the Florida trip.
Coe College was able to take a doubles point at 3rd doubles to bring the match score to 2-1 heading into the singles.
In singles action, Norman increased the lead to 3-1 for the Bears, winning 6-0, 6-0 at #2 singles. Coe fought back to 3-2 winning the next point at #6 singles. Decoste increased the lead to 4-2 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at #1 singles. Coe responded with a win at #5 singles, bringing the match score to 4-3. At #4 singles, Bonetto clinched the match for the Bears, winning a three-set nail-biter at #3 singles 3-6, 7-6, 6-1. Coe won the final point of the day at #4 singles with another three-setter. The final tally was a 5-4 victory for the Bears.
Coast Guard is next in action on Saturday March 23 at Salve Regina.
