Box Score NEWPORT, R.I.

Coast Guard fought back from a nine point halftime deficit to earn their 7th NEWMAC win and clinch a spot in the NEWMAC conference tournament. The seven conference wins tie the program record for most NEWMAC wins in a season. Salve Regina falls to 10-14 (4-11 NEWMAC).

The Bears were led by Declan Rooney and Luke Farrell. Rooney had 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists while Farrell had 21 points and three steals. Elijah Parent contributed 17 points, and Mitch Shettles had 15 points on five three point shots.

CGA took an early 5-2 lead but would not lead again until midway through the 2nd half. With just over 13 minutes remaining and trailing 55-58, coach Kevin Jaskiewicz called timeout and the Bears came out of it storming. Back to back buckets by Rooney and Farrell gave the Bears their first lead since the beginning of the game, they would not relinquish it.

Coast Guard improves to 14-10 and 7-8 in conference. The Bears play their last regular season game on Saturday, 2/17, against Babson in Alumni Gymnasium at 1 pm.
