NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Women's Swimming and Diving team dropped only their second dual meet of the season against NCAA top 10 MIT at home. The women fell to 7-2 with a final score of 173-64. MIT was able to break the pool record in the 100 freestyle along the way.
First year Ella Roberson broke a 20-year-old Roland Pool record in the 100 free held by NCAA champion Michelle Combs from SUNY New Paltz, with Roberson finishing in 51.97 nearly a second under the old record.
The Bears swims were highlighted by junior Grace Keogh winning the 200 freestyle in 1:59.15, two seconds ahead of the second place finisher. The Bears swept the top three places in the 500 freestyle with first years Jaida Lippy (5:25.14), Lili Feyk (5:25.84) and Zoe Suhajda (5:29.04) sweeping the field.
The women will next compete at the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY on January 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm. They will hope to keep their unbeaten streak against KP alive at 22 years straight.
