Baseball Comes Up Short Against Springfield

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Coast Guard Baseball hosted Springfield in day one of the two-day homestand against the Pride, falling with a final score of 6-2.

Springfield got on the board in the top of the first and added on in the top of the third before Coast Guard got its first runs across the plate.

In the bottom of the third, down 4-0, Parker Madden hit a two-run homer to cut Springfield's lead in half.

The Pride put up two in the top of the fifth to extend their lead back to four. CGA had an opportunity in the bottom of the ninth. The bases were loaded and Madden stepped up to bat. Despite the effort, the Bears were not able to capitalize and ended up falling, 6-2.

Madden, John Carroll and Luke Percifield all had two hits on the day.

Coast Guard and Springfield will face of once again on May 2nd at 4 PM in the final game of the season for the Bears.
